Heritage Flight Training and Certification Course Published Feb. 28, 2013 By 010213 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The Air Combat Command Heritage Flight Training and Certification Course will take place at Davis-Monthan Feb 28 through March 3. During the four-day course, aircrews will perform ground and flight training to enable civilian pilots of historic military aircraft and Air Force pilots of current fighter aircraft to safely fly formations together. The Air Force is continuing with this training to ensure that if there is a favorable resolution to current fiscal challenges aircrews can safely perform flights. Air Force participation in Heritage Flights may cease after certification due to prioritization of flying hours as part of budget uncertainty and fiscal constraints; decisions on Department of Defense and Air Force support of aerial demonstrations and flyovers will be announced as appropriate. Heritage flights are important for recruiting and public awareness of the Air Force mission. This year's historic aircraft flying in the training include the P-51 Mustang, the P-40 Warhawk, the A-36 Apache, P-47 Thunderbolt and the F-86 Sabre. ACC aircraft include the F-4 Phantom II, A-10 Thunderbolt II and the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Media are invited to cover the event March 2. Please RSVP to the 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office at 228-3406 or 228-3202 by 4:30 p.m. on Feb 28. Information about the performance schedule and interview times is also available by calling the 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office.
