Deceased D-M Airman identified Published Aug. 2, 2012 By 020812 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Tech. Sgt. Steven Mangrum, 27, assigned to Davis-Monthan's 355th Security Forces Squadron, was found dead in his home July 31 at about 5:30 p.m. Mangrum was a native of Pflugerville, Texas, and had been stationed at Davis-Monthan since April 2008. Mangrum had deployed in 2005, 2008, and 2011 in support of overseas contingency operations in the U.S. Central Command theater of operations. "This loss is tragic," said Col. James Meger, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "The Desert Lightning Team stands with the friends and family of Sergeant Mangrum in these incredibly difficult moments." After completing an investigation, the Pima County Sheriff's Department has ruled the death an "apparent suicide".
