Davis-Monthan Airman found dead on base

DAVIS MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. --  An Airman assigned to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base's 355th Security Forces Squadron was found dead of an unknown cause in a dormitory on base at about 8:20 a.m. today.

The name of the deceased is being withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified.

"The loss of this member of our Desert Lightning Team is a tragic and sad event," said Col. James Meger, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "My deepest condolences to the family and friends of our deceased Airman during this difficult time."

The cause of death is under investigation.
