Gen. Norton Schwartz, U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff, will deliver the first HC-130J Combat King II in the Air Force to D-M in a ceremony here, Sept. 24.

The aircraft, designed by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, is configured for combat search and rescue capabilities and will become a pivotal part of the CSAR mission.

The aircraft was designed with mission flexibility in mind. It is capable of combat delivery, air-to-air refueling, special operations, humanitarian and disaster relief missions, all which equate to increased ground and air combat superiority.

Other variants of the HC-130J include models specialized for weather reconnaissance and electronic warfare.

As Chief, General Schwartz serves as the senior uniformed Air Force officer responsible for the organization, training and equipping of 680,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the United States and overseas. As a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the general and other service chiefs function as military advisers to the Secretary of Defense, National Security Council and the President.

The 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office invites media representatives to attend the ceremony. Media members planning to attend must RSVP by no later than 12 p.m. Sept. 22. To RSVP, call (520) 228-3406. Media must arrive at the Craycroft Gate entrance at TBD a.m. Sept. 24.
