Davis Monthan Airman pronounced dead on base

An Airman assigned to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base was found dead on D-M from a gunshot at about 4:30 p.m. today The name of the deceased is being withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified. There is no imminent danger to the base or the community. "The loss of this Airman is shocking and traumatic for us all," said Col. John A. Cherrey, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "Our thoughts are with the Airman's family during this difficult time." The cause of the incident is under investigation.
