Base clinics to reduce services during exercise

The 355th Medical Group will be operating at 30 percent of its normal capability Nov. 9 to 14 as the 355th Fighter Wing exercises its ability to deploy Airmen to support overseas contingency operations.

During the exercise the 355th MDG will provide acute medical and dental care for Active Duty personnel only. Any potential overflow as well as all active duty dependents and retirees will also be sent downtown for healthcare.

Uncomplicated acute care activities will be handled at the clinic while others will be referred out to our community healthcare providers. Specialty and sub-specialty care activities will also be limited due to participation of our support technicians in the exercises.

Aviators and special operations personnel will still be seen for sick call and acute care issues at the Flight Medicine Clinic.

There will be no changes to the referral process as our patients are advised to continue to use the appointment lines from where they will either be given an appointment on base or be referred to other local providers within our community of service.

The clinic will be closed on Veterans Day and the upcoming weekend.

All patients may utilize the Nurse Advice Line or go to local urgent and/or acute care clinics for minor urgent care needs. As usual, all health-related emergencies should be taken to the nearest Emergency Departments of local Hospitals.

"We thank our 355th MDG patients for understanding this inconvenience as we practice a vital combat capability," said Col. John Cherrey, 355th Fighter Wing commander.
