Operation Snowbird Update Published Feb. 9, 2010 By 010210 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz., -- Two squadrons of United Kingdom Royal Air Force GR4 Tornados will operate here from February through early March as part of Operation Snowbird. - Eight Tornados will operate at Snowbird for the second and third weeks of February. - A second squadron of eight Tornados will operate at Snowbird during the fourth week of February and the first week of March. On arrival and departure, pilots will comply with all of the base's traffic patterns and noise abatement procedures. Units visiting Snowbird typically use this training in preparation for upcoming deployments. Davis-Monthan and surrounding training sites offer visiting aircrews similar conditions they would face in deployed environments, making the base and its assets ideal for combat training.
