ACC to host multinational personnel recovery exercise Published Nov. 12, 2008 By 041108 LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. -- Media are invited to attend Air Combat Command's annual personnel recovery and Combat Search and Rescue exercise, Angel Thunder 08, scheduled for Dec. 1 through 12 at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. In its third year, Angel Thunder 08 is the most complex and largest Department of Defense personnel recovery exercise to date, integrating sister services and numerous state, national, multinational and interagency assets. During the exercise, personnel recovery forces will train through the full spectrum of personnel recovery capabilities with the Army, Department of Justice, National Reconnaissance Office, State Department, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Joint Forces Command and multinational participants from Chile, Colombia and Germany. Multinational observers will be Mexico, Canada, Pakistan and Brazil. Ground recovery forces will consist of about 250 personnel from the Air Force Guardian Angel & Special Tactic teams, Army Special Forces and federal special agents. Angel Thunder 08 will also include military aircraft such as HH-60G, MC-130P, C-130E, AH-64D, UH-1N, C-17, KC-135, HC-130P, EC-130H, E-3, A-10, and German Tornado ECR.
