D-M seeks charter school to open middle school on base

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. --  The base community here at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., is pursuing an existing charter school to open a middle school on base by August 2009. 

The base is finalizing the request for proposal with Nov. 14 as the target completion date. Community parents, teachers and interested members contributed their inputs to the RFP through town hall meetings and working groups. The deadline for proposal submissions is scheduled for Jan. 9. 

The base is prepared to award a 10-year lease with a year-to-year option not to exceed 15 years to the school that offers the best proposal.
