D-M to hold operational readiness exercise Published June 12, 2014 By 030614 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Davis-Monthan AFB will be conducting a routine operational readiness exercise June 17. Please be advised there will be increased activity on the base during the exercise, to include A-10 flight operations sustained through a 24-hour period. The A-10s will be supporting a combat search and rescue component of the exercise taking place southeast of Davis-Monthan, and will be taking off periodically throughout the night. To reduce the impact of nighttime flight operations on neighboring communities, D-M aircraft will adhere to normal nighttime flying procedures unless safety dictates otherwise. These exercises are held to ensure D-M's Airmen maintain the highest levels of proficiency and readiness for worldwide military and humanitarian operations. During the exercise period, alarms, sirens and loudspeaker announcements may be heard at residences on and near the base. For additional information please contact the 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office at 228-3406, or for noise concerns please call 228-5091.
