55th Rescue Squadron to host Pilot for a day Published Nov. 19, 2013 By 011113 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- A local Tucson teen will visit D-M to become a "Pilot for a Day" Nov. 22. Fifteen-year-old Austin Thacker, along with members of his family, will be hosted by the 55th Rescue Squadron. The tour will include a stop at the C-130J Simulator as well as a HH-60 Static and a C-130 display. "Pilot for a Day" focuses on children who have serious or chronic conditions. Davis-Monthan invites these children of all ages, military dependents or civilian, to be a guest of the 355th Fighter Wing and one of D-M's operations squadrons for a full day of activities. In doing so, we strive to give each child a special day and a break from the challenges they may face.
