Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force to conduct familiarization flights at D-M Published June 13, 2014 By 040614 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- For the next 90 days, a regenerated C-130R Hercules aircraft will be conducting flight training at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. This aircraft is one of six aircraft purchased by the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force through NAVAIR's Tactical Airlift, Adversary and Support Aircraft Program (PMA-207) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) office. Flights are scheduled to begin on Monday, June 16. Bearing a unique sky blue paint scheme, the red symbols on the fuselage and under the wings are reminiscent of the "circle of the sun" on the Japanese flag.
