The Davis-Monthan branch of the Sonoran Science Academy will be celebrating the graduation of its first senior class on base May 20.

The charter school opened on base in 2009 initially serving grades six through eight, but has successfully added a grade level each year and now serves grades 6-12.

Sonoran Science Academy was founded on the principle that a rigorous curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) provides the foundations to graduate independent thinkers who are capable of innovation and prepared to take on leadership roles.

The graduation will be held at 3 p.m., show time at the Craycroft gate will be 2:30 p.m.

Media wishing to cover the event should contact the 355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office at 520-228-3202 by noon May 20.
