Nevada-based A-10s visit D-M for training

Release Number: 010513

Davis-Monthan will be welcoming six A-10C Thunderbolt IIs from the 66th Weapons Squadron based at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., May 10-17 as they conduct training around the area.

The 66 WPS is an A-10 instructional flying squadron that teaches graduate-level courses, providing advanced training in weapons and tactics employment.

While here, the A-10 pilots will conduct Weapons School syllabus directed day and night training within Southern Arizona's outstanding military training ranges. This course prepares graduates to be the lead instructor of advanced technologies, tactics and training. Upon returning to their assigned squadron, they will be the primary leaders in building and executing training plans with their wing and squadron pilots. The training conducted here at D-M is a small segment of the entire Weapons School course.

D-M and surrounding training sites offer visiting aircrew similar conditions they would face in deployed environments, making the base and its assets ideal for combat training.
