Christmas Message for Arizona Service Men and Women Published Dec. 3, 2009 By Governor Jan Brewer PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Not long ago, I was privileged to take part in the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the State Capitol. I said at the time, the Christmas holiday -- as well as other holidays celebrated at this time of year by different faiths - reminds us of the precious gifts given to us -- without our even asking. I was talking about the gifts of freedom and liberty -- gifts given by our forefathers and fought for us today by you, our service men and women. The lights that are now aglow on the Capitol tree are for you and your families. Your service is your gift to us, which we accept with great humility and unceasing appreciation. It is your sacrifice which guarantees our freedom and makes possible the dream we all share -- peace on earth, goodwill toward all. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and God bless each and every one of you.
