Twelfth Air Force and Air Forces Southern hosted its third bi-annual sports day at Bama Park here Nov. 3.

The day started out with a briefing by the 12AF/AFSOUTH commander, Lt. Gen. Norman Seip, and a one and a half mile run. After the run, activities included dodge ball, Wally ball, golf chipping, ultimate Frisbee, and kickball.

"This year's sports day was a huge success and the participants were pleased with how things turned out," said Master Sgt. Christopher McKinney, one of the event coordinators. "It gave everyone well deserved time away from work for some fun with their co-workers.

The group gathered for a barbeque lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs and other refreshments before continuing with the festivities. After lunch, there was a mystery relay, involving a four-legged-race, balloon popping, cookie eating and more, followed by the event-ending game of tug-o-war.

In the end, General Seip announced that the overall winner was the 612th Air and Space Operations Center and presented them with a trophy.

"It's nice after all our hard work to be able to get out here and have a great day devoted to sports," he said. "The participation was great, and I look forward to the next sports day in the spring."

Twelfth Air Force conducts a sports day every spring and fall.
