Throughout the month of September D-M AFB will be celebrating its first Comprehensive Airmen Fitness month.

CAF is meant to deliver resilience development services targeted to a wide range of individuals and groups within Air Force communities including: active duty, guard, and reserve members and their families, civilian employees, DoD employees, retirees and their families.

There are four domains that make up CAF: mental, physical, social and spiritual. September will be concentrating on the mental domain, which focuses on approaching life's challenges in a positive way by demonstrating self-control, stamina and good character with choices and actions; seeking help and offering help.

"CAF month allows commanders the flexibility to pinpoint resilient activities at a time where it's good for their units," said Vincent Howard, Resilience Center community support coordinator.

The D-M resilience center is available year round to assist Desert Lightning Team Airmen though the CAF domains.

Throughout the month there will be events, classes, and organized training by master resiliency trainers and specialists from the local community to lecture on strength finding and mental stamina.

The resilience center is located Building in 2441 Room 308, 5355 S. Granite Street. There are more than 200 motivational books that Airmen can check out, massage chairs for physical relaxation and master resiliency trainers that are available.

Howard describes the resilience center as a welcoming place where everyone on D-M is welcome to relax and experience a taste of resilience.

"Me and my team are committed to modeling resilience in every way so people will come back," said Howard.

The resilience center is one of many resources used to educate Airmen about the importance of CAF.

D-M will dedicate one month out of each quarter to a specific CAF domain. Next quarter will be spiritual and after that physical and social.
