On the third Thursday of each month, Desert Lightning Team members have the opportunity to pick up a quick dinner during the Soaring Heights Drive Thru-Pizza Night, here.

From 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Soaring Heights employees sell large pizzas outside of the Welcome Home Center for $6 each, cash only, with a choice of either pepperoni or cheese.

"Almost everyone loves pizza and a deal," said Lisa Sturgent, D-M Soaring Heights property manager. "It offers a great opportunity to feed the family without breaking the bank; if we can make family's dinner hour a little more enjoyable, that's great."

Although, this event was originally created for military members and their families, anyone with base access is welcome to "drive thru."

"It's relatively inexpensive and very convenient because of the location," said Tech. Sgt. Kristoffer Abalos, 563rd Operations Support Squadron NCOIC of plans and exercise.

For almost two years, Soaring Heights has partnered with a local, off-base pizza establishment to offer the monthly deal. The price, $6, is generally less than the cost of ordering the same pizza for delivery.

"There are many residents who plan this event into their monthly dinner menu," Sturgent said. "It's a great opportunity for our staff to have a quick catch-up with residents as well."
