D-M Airman identified after death in traffic accident Published Feb. 12, 2012 By 020212 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz -- Tech. Sgt. Dustin Jackson, 36, assigned to the 355th Civil Engineer Squadron at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, passed away on Friday night at the University of Arizona Medical Center after he collided with a vehicle while riding a motorcycle at the intersection Sandario Road and Kinney in the vicinity of Saguaro National Park. "Sergeant Jackson was an important part of the Desert Lightning family, and he will be missed," said Col. John A. Cherrey, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "We stand with his family and his squadron in this in this incredibly difficult time." Jackson was a Fire Emergency Services Crew Chief serving in the D-M Fire Department. He enlisted in the Air Force Nov. 1, 2000, and was stationed at D-M beginning in August 2008. His hometown is Red Oak, Iowa. Jackson recently returned from a deployment in support of Operation New Dawn in Iraq. His major awards include two Air Force Commendation Medals and two Air Force Achievement Medals.
