U.S. Air Force Band of the West to Perform In Tucson Published Nov. 4, 2009 By 011109 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The United States Air Force Band of the West Concert Band will perform at the John J. Pedicone Jr. Performing Arts Center at Flowing Wells High School Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. The 45-member concert band represents the U.S. Air Force by performing music throughout the Southwest. It offers the audience a wide range of music by preeminent composers. The bands repertoire consists of music from the Renaissance to the present day ranging from Broadway musicals to today's popular hits. Members of the band are professional musicians from colleges and universities around the nation that serve in the U.S. Air Force. This concert will feature Staff Sgt. Chantelle Friedman and Airman 1st Class Ryan Leatherman as soloists. Sergeant Friedman has a bachelor's degree in music education from the Hartt School of Music and a master's degree in music performance from Michigan State University. Airman Leatherman has a bachelor's degree in music performance from Drake University and a dual master's degree from the University of Illinois in classical saxophone and jazz studies.
