The Royal Dutch Air Force and the 178th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard will deploy 15 F-16 Fighting Falcons to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Jan. 12-31 as part of Operation Snowbird.

During their brief stay, pilots will comply with the base's normal traffic pattern and noise abatement procedures.

During night operations, aircraft will normally takeoff toward and land from the southeast of the base if winds and the FAA's Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facility permit.

Visiting units will use this training in preparation for upcoming deployments later this year. Davis-Monthan and surrounding training sites offer visiting aircrews similar conditions they would face in deployed environments, making the base and its assets ideal for combat training.

Operation Snowbird provides support for visiting flying units from U.S. military installations and allied partners needing to train in the optimal weather conditions and ample ranges of Southern Arizona.
