One individual detained after attempted installation breach at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base

A civilian was detained after attempting to breach Craycroft Gate with his vehicle at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base at approximately 8 a.m., March 30.

Defenders from the 355th Security Forces Squadron activated barriers, stopping the vehicle. After detaining the driver, the vehicle caught fire. Firefighters from the Davis-Monthan Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze. The driver was transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

"The security of our installation and the safety of our Airmen is our top priority," said Maj. Steve Holman, 355th Security Forces Squadron commander. "Our Defenders are trained professionals who act in accordance with their training and policy to secure the gate."

The incident is under investigation, and no further information is available at this time. All queries should be directed to the Tucson Police Department.
