Distinguished Flying Cross and Airman’s Medal with Valor presentation Published Sept. 19, 2013 By 040913 DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. - -- Airmen will be honored in a ceremony at the 55th Rescue Squadron here at 2 p.m. Sept. 20. The seven Airmen earned their medals for the actions they performed while under enemy fire supporting U.S. and collation forces. The Distinguished Flying Cross medal is awarded to any officer or enlisted person of the Armed Forces of the United States who shall have distinguished her/himself in actual combat in support of operations by heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight.
