  • DOD announces use of masks, other public health measures

    Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III signed a memo Feb. 4 that, effective immediately, directs all individuals on military installations and all individuals performing official duties on behalf of the Department from any location other than the individual’s home, including outdoor shared spaces, to wear masks in accordance with the most current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

  • DM opens new lodging facility

    The new Air Force Inns lodging facility held its grand opening ceremony at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, Jan. 27, 2021. The $60 million facility provides increased capacity, modernized amenities and replaced the existing lodging facility.
  • Air Force to allow longer braids, ponytails, bangs for women

    As an outcome of the 101st Air Force uniform board, Air Force women will be able to wear their hair in up to two braids or a single ponytail with bulk not exceeding the width of the head and length not extending below a horizontal line running between the top of each sleeve inseam at the under arm through the shoulder blades. In addition, women’s bangs may now touch their eyebrows, but not cover their eyes.
  • Red Flag 21-1 kicks off at Nellis

    Southern Nevada residents may notice an increase in military aircraft activity from Jan. 25 through Feb. 12 as Nellis begins Red Flag 21-1, one of the U.S. Air Force’s largest combat training exercises.
